Full Backup of Your Website




To create full backup:

  1. Choose “Backup” at first page.
  2. Choose “Full Backup” at second page.
  3. Choose storage destination from the result of file backup.  You have 3 choices:
    • You can save backup file to home directory of your web server by choosing Home Directory from pull-down menu.
    • cPanel also have FTP or SCP utility to save files to remote engine.  To do this, fill the needed information and choose methods to transfer file from pull-down menu.
    • If you wish to download file to local computer, skip to the next step.
  4. Click Generate Backup
    • If you use FTP or SCP, an email will be sent to your email address which has been set in the beginning of the process.
  5.  To download the copies of your backup file to your computer, click filename under “Backup Available for Download”

The backup date will be written together with file’s name (begin with; backup-MM-DD-YYYY).  The file saved as “tar ball” or compressed data file with “.tar.gz” extension file.

Note: You can’t use full backup to restore your website by using cPanel interface.  The files should be downloaded and decompressed before restore process.  Done with decompression, you can upload and restore parts of your website which inside the full backup.
